Plum joined PTD HQ after working in one of our Brighton retail shops. Now, a full time member in the admin team, Plum lends her creative hand and monumental vocabulary to our newsletters while looking after our customers, and that's just tapping on the surface! Knowing her objects would be heavily influenced on music and her love of styling pretty much anything - we were very excited to see her montage. It was also a nice surprise to see her softer side coming through some of these objects...
1. David Bowie Like many people I know, I was devastated to hear that David Bowie had died. Like many people also, he's been an enormous “ if not the main “ influence in my life and is my number one favourite artist. In fact, he's been such a massive influence, even my fiance has different coloured eyes! Music is a big part of my life, so I have loads of favourites, but where Bowie's concerned, there's no contest. My favourite Bowie song? Impossible question to answer.
2. Vivienne Westwood I'm a big fan of British design, and love Vivienne Westwood. I love how she's self-taught, and how she really does live and breathe the spirit of punk, not really caring what people think of her. My sister gave me my Westwood purse last Christmas, and my watch the one just gone. The perfume is Westwood's Boudoir, which is by miles my favourite scent and which I've worn for years and years now. It's fairly heavy and rich, but I'm not a light, floral kind of girl. I feel completely naked if I don't wear it every day It's not often Plum takes a selfie but we think it's pretty convincing!
3. Avocados It wouldn't surprise me if Alice established a clause here at Posh Totty Designs: All staff must have at least a mild avocado addiction to work here. My colleague, Emma, tells people not to leave their avocados lying round: she can't trust herself not to pinch them! I'm one of many avocado addicts here at PTD, and eat around one a day.
4. Lapsang Souchong This is my favourite tea, and I drink it every day like most people do PG Tips or Tetley. I actually can't stand ˜normal' tea. I was making a cup of Lapsang in the kitchen at work the other day and one of the jewellers asked me if I was cooking bacon. It's smoky and delicious and most people think I'm bananas for liking it like.
5. The Catcher in the Rye, by JD Salinger Favourite book of all time. I have no substantial reason as to why, and I'm a very big reader; but this book made a huge impression on me when I first read it at 15. I've attempted it since, and bizarrely don't see quite what I was so captivated and inspired by back then “ but the feeling has stuck, which I think is reason enough.
6. Old concert ticket I treasure this ticket. It was for a Suede gig in 1997, at the Plymouth Pavilions. I was 14 and it was the first gig I ever went to. I'm a massive Suede fan (which is possibly a lot to do with my love for Bowie) and won't hear a word said against them. You can tell I was keen; mine was ticket No.6.
7. Posh Totty Designs Live Love Laugh Candle These are a relatively new addition to the PTD collection, and I can't get enough of them. I love scented candles, my house if full of them. The scent of our candles is absolutely yummy “ a proper English summer garden.
8. Red beret I wear a lot of black and darker colours, so I have to make an effort to incorporate colour into my wardrobe, and I really like a simple French-inspired look. To be honest, I'd have ordinarily chosen a black beret, but the one I've got is bobbly and a bit icky looking these days.
9. Yellow gold Tiger Claw necklace by Alexa de Casthilo There's something about this necklace and its design that I absolutely adore. I wear it all the time.
10. Silver necklace My mum made and gave me this necklace. The pendant is a silver button off my grandfather's shirt “ he lived in India so they're pretty fancy buttons. My mum and two sisters have one the same.
11. ˜Bright On Ideas' PU Leather Notebook I'm super biased about these notebooks. They're gloriously soft to touch, are perfect handbag size and I love the gold foil quotes. I have dozens of notebooks which I'm always jotting ideas for stories and poems down.
12. Little bunny I've had this funny little bunny since I was a baby, although it was never my favourite toy. However, it's the only one that has survived not only years of childhood pawing, but countless house moves and rearrangements. He's just always there, and the older I get, the more attached to him I get.
13. Ossie Clark jacket I'm a huge fan of quality vintage, and this is my absolute favourite wardrobe item I've ever owned. It's actually a two-piece and has a pair of matching trousers. Ossie Clark was a genius and his patterns are so flattering. I always feel invincible when I wear my Ossie, no matter how I'm feeling.
14. Peacock feathers The girls in the office were hesitant when they saw I'd brought peacock feathers in to include in my Sweet 16! There's a superstition that they're unlucky to bring indoors, but I don't believe it: I've got loads dotted around my house. When my boyfriend and I moved in together 12 years ago, we lived in a draughty converted barn in Cornwall, and a clutch of peacocks lived on the farm. I'd often step out of the house to find beautiful feathers on the doorstep where one of the birds had been showing off!
15. Rose quartz crystal I have an enormous collection of crystals, and I got into the habit of carrying this rose quartz around in my handbag. I've got friends who swear by the power of crystals. Magic powers or not, I just love the look of them.
16. Engagement ring You can't see it really, but my final item is my engagement ring. It's vintage; three diamonds, set in white gold claw settings with a yellow gold band. We got it in the South Lanes from vintage jeweller, Paul Goble. I always knew I wanted a vintage ring, and we looked at hundreds through the windows of each of the jewellers in the South Lanes. But this one, as understated and small as it is, stood out. It was the first “ and only “ ring I tried on, and fit perfectly. I've been with my boyfriend 12.5 years and we've finally decided to tie the knot. We're getting married in Brighton in June “ I can't wait!
