Presenting The Official Posh Totty Designs Film

*DRUM ROLL* It's a big moment at PTD today chaps, we are very proud to present to you our very own Posh Totty Designs film. We recently teamed up with local film production company, Shy Camera to break down our walls (so to speak) and document the very special journey each piece of jewellery takes. The film beautifully demonstrates just how our jewellery workshop & skilled jewellers really do shine. We decided to embark on this project as unbeknown to most, each order goes through a very special process indeed..

Unlike many other jewellery companies making 'mass -machine' produced pieces, we are proud to say that each piece of jewellery passes through skilled human hands, using specialist techniques from start to finish. Let's head on a journey behind the scenes with the stars behind the film...

The film captures the intricate process of Sarah & Mat (our senior jewellers) constructing one of our 9ct gold designs, here you can see our unique hand stamping technique which many aren't aware, was pioneered by Posh Totty Designs founder, Alice Rivers-Cripps. The hand stamping technique is an intricate one that demands a very steady hand- the process allows each jeweller to add their own individual style to every piece they make, this means no two pieces of personalised jewellery will ever be the same, but totally unique to the recipient. Our special stamps we use to personalise your jewellery. The film really highlights how our personalised pieces represent more than a fleeting fashion accessory- the personalised element means that it will be a treasured keepsake that bears significance to a special moment in time.

The nice thing about our Personalised collection is that we design for many different tastes and styles- the contemporary Geometric range to classic Russian Ring or Family Names necklaces all have the ability to be made with the recipient in mind. So, safe in this knowledge, let's delve a little deeper...

In the film, we receive an order for a bride-to-be for her big day (that week!) Our Head Jeweller Sarah, and Mat our resident Goldsmith, take us through the making process of this very special order for a Personalised 9ct Eternity Necklace, the luxe version of our Russian Ring Necklace. In the video, Sarah begins by carefully creating each of the three rings from 9ct gold wire followed by soldering, polishing, hand stamping and stone setting as completed by Mat (in those goggles!) An abundance of care and attention goes into the piece as made from their very own workbenches. Once complete the necklace is collected from our Sydney Street, Brighton shop. Delighted, the happy couple are seen collecting their 9ct gold handmade necklace for their big day, awww! Just like each and every order, this one has it's own little story to tell.

We chat to Mat, head Goldsmith at PTD How did you find making the film?

Mat: It was a very lengthy day but it was a brilliant way to really highlight what goes on in the workshop. We were really keen for the film to capture the making process from raw material through to end product, we really wanted our customers to have a greater understanding of the handmade aspect of our designs and what goes in to each piece. I don't think many people realise that each piece of jewellery is actually made in house here in Brighton and not overseas in a factory! As craftspeople who take real pride in their work, we're really looking forward to sharing some of the processes with our customers.

The film shows the making of the 9ct Gold Eternity Diamond Necklace.

We have seen a big expansion in the gold range this past year, can you tell us why you think there's been a huge increase in demand?

Mat: I think people are more aware of the long term value involved in precious metals. Our designs are very popular so it was a progression for them to seek a more valuable piece based on these same designs. As the Posh Totty Brand grows, we see many repeat customers buying gold pieces for various special occasions and events and will return to us for gifts for friends and family. It is good to see the gold side of things beginning to separate itself within the business. Our flagship Sydney Street store has our popular gold range on display and is always so well received.
