The lovely Lucy from the fantastic makers blog, Peas and Needles, is almost part of the furniture at Posh Totty Designs these days! We had great fun at the beginning of the month in the PTD Makes studio when Lucy joined us for one of our exclusive bloggers parties, and left that evening having made a macrame plant hanger. Earlier in the spring, we asked Lucy if she'd be up for designing our summer window display - which she was! Our latest display is fantastic, and we're all over showing it off to the rest of the street. We caught up with Lucy to ask her a few questions about herself, craft, her blog, and her inspirations...

The lovely Lucy of Peas & Needles

You're probably asked this a hundred times a day: why peas? I actually really dislike peas. They're the worst vegetable. When I first started blogging I needed a blog name and I couldn’t decide for ages. So I hate peas and I liked knitting at the time, so I chose Peas and Needles. Ha!

What got you into crafting? Who or what inspires you? I got into crafting at a pretty young age. I have memories of my Grandma teaching me to knit when I was tiny and my Mum is always sewing something so their skills just got passed on. I am so grateful for this. I would say that my family are a big inspiration, everyone always has a project on. I also love Pinterest.

What's your number one favourite make and why? Weaving. I love to weave.

Peas & Needles | We Make Collective

Posh Totty Designs recently launched its PTD Makes studio, where we'll be holding classes in macramé plant and wall hanger making, Shibori tie dye and string art all art forms that were popular in the '70s, but are only recently having a resurgence. You mentioned on your blog that you think weaving is making a comeback too. Why do you think this is? I think the traditional crafts on the whole are making a huge comeback. More now than ever. Weaving is such a calming peaceful craft and you can get lost in it for hours. I certainly do. It’s such a simple craft but  you can make beautiful pieces. This definitely appeals to me and when people start to learn it they see this too.

You're often involved in weaving workshops. What's the possibility of getting you to hold a guest tutorial at our Makes studio I have been running weaving classes for over a year now and they are so popular, it's so great to see people so keen to learn to weave! I would love to come to the Makes studio, it's such a beautiful space.

You’ve just designed and installed Posh Totty Design's latest window display. How did this come about? I’d seen your great window displays pop up on Instagram and I just left a comment saying I would love to design one for you one day and it went from there. I am wanting to take my design work into this route so it's a perfect start.

What are the themes and inspirations behind the display you've designed? Wool and flowers. These are my favourite materials to work with so it's just combining the two. I am really excited about the display so I hope people will enjoy it as much as I had making it. Finally, what are your favourite items from the Posh Totty Designs range and why? I am a big fan of your Scalloped circle necklace in the rose gold! So pretty!
