ATLG #1 The Coronation Edition

I love to party, any party!...

I have a reputation for loving parties but there is nothing better than a regal, once in a lifetime party (with bunting). Anyone who knows me well will know that my wedding speech mainly consisted of thanking all my friends for the grand gesture of handmade bunting all around the marquee. I am so at home with this best of British Coronation party that I have dug out that said bunting and got it ready to drape from one street corner to the next. This same bunting was also put up all around my kids bedrooms when they were little (no chance now) and last years Jubilee party. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm relaxing a little knowing I have all the decs from last years party to roll out again!

Alice Through the Looking Glass #1

"I am a big lover of vintage commemorative pieces and have been buying the queens mugs and tins in junk shops since I was little, but felt it would be great to make some commemorative pieces with a little humour and with a nod to the king himself."

Alice Through the Looking Glass #1

Inspired by The Coronation I designed this quirky limited edition collection to celebrate all things British. I am a big lover of vintage commemorative pieces and have been buying The Queen's mugs and tins in junk shops since I was little but felt it would be great to make some commemorative pieces with a little humour and with a nod to The King himself. I particularly love the Coronation Chicken Signet Ring which was designed at a street party meeting after much discussion over who would make the Coronation Chicken so we didn't end up with just a table of chicken. It seemed like the perfect symbol of the moment until I found out from my Mother that The King is actually a vegetarian. Oops! I hope he doesn't mind and I will make a Coronation quiche out of respect. We have many more designs to suit instead.

I think it's a wonderful celebration and a moment to come together to celebrate all things British. Whether you are a big believer in The Monarchy or not really bothered, who doesn't want a day off and a chance to party with family and friends. Last year's street party for the Queen's Jubilee was so momentous and made me want to sing in the street like a scene from Mary Poppins. It felt like we were all coming together for one special day. Let's do that again and wish our new King a long and happy reign... or simply raise a glass to another bank holiday and a chance to party.
